Position: Pediatric Cardiology Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA-C)

 

Pediatric Associates understands that sometimes our patients have a special need for cardiology services. Due to growth and demand, we are searching for another advanced practice provider to join our cardiology team!

 

What you would be doing

  • Providing outpatient consultations for general cardiology referrals (i.e. chest pain, syncope, murmur etc)
  • Follow-up care of acquired or congenital heart problems in children from birth to 21 years of age
  • Initial direct supervision to ensure skills and capabilities excel throughout the training period
  • Working independently with patients for general, non-complex cardiology needs
  • 24/7 access to supervising cardiologist via phone or telemedicine
  • No call, rounds, weekend, or holiday work

Clinical expectations

  • Obtains comprehensive history and performs assessment via observation, interview and examination
  • Appropriately order diagnostic cardiac studies as and when clinically indicated.
  • Independently develop medical diagnoses and accurately formulate treatment plans
  • Communicate responsibly with supervising cardiologist when higher level of care/advice is needed on selective /complex cases
  • Interpret tests appropriately including laboratory, X-ray and diagnostic cardiac studies (resulted by the cardiologist such as EKG, Echocardiogram, Holter monitor reports, etc)
  • Provide counseling and education of patient/family regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and cardiac health
  • Perform preventative and sports health assessments, cardiac screening, and medical clearance
  • Monitor the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, when needed

Education

  • Successful completion of an Accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program
  • Physician Assistants must have passed the NCCPA certification exam
  • Nurse Practitioners graduating after July 1, 2006 must be board certified.
  • Nurse Practitioners must be certified by the ANCC or PNCB

 

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current, unrestricted license in the state of Florida
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required
