Clinical Extern - Medical Assistant, Houston

Summary

Pediatric Associates was founded in Hollywood, FL in 1955. The same clinician-led, evidence-based, medical home passion is a unifying driver for those who join Pediatric Associates Family of Companies.  ​The Pediatric Associates Family of Companies is a growing team of Pediatricians and Pediatric Care Teammates who are excited to be part of the first nationwide Pediatric Primary Care Medical Home. We further our uniqueness by ensuring the clinician voice is leading our medical home innovations.​

Pediatric Associates Family of Companies partners with schools throughout the US to help Medical Assistants complete their required externship hours. Students will be exposed to the Pediatric world where they gain knowledge regarding offices and PA procedures.

Our externship opportunities are considered a working interview where they are graded by their school and by PA Leaders who will then determine if they will be a good fit for PA long term. Nine out of ten externs are offered employment with PA!

During the externship, students shadow a care team member while performing the following patient care duties:

Prepare exam rooms for patient examinations and observations
Observe lab tests and specimen collection
Shadow employees as they take vitals: measure and record vitals, collecting medical history

Pediatric Associates was founded in 1955 in Florida, and now have expanded to Texas, Arizona, California, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and even Monterrey, Mexico.  We have clinics all over Texas, under MD Medical Group, including 20 alone in Houston/Beaumont region, and we are growing more in the coming year —Most of them are called MD Kids Pediatrics, Clinicas Mi Doctor, or Pediatrics Healthcare of NW Houston—and we are now the largest Pediatrics organization in the entire US. 

We currently have affiliation agreements with the following schools in the Houston region:  CHCP, UHD, Lone Star College, Florida Career College, and Texas Healthtech Institute.  If you are a Medical Assistant student in need of externship hours from one of these schools, we'd like to hear from you!
